Commentary #1: Sin senos sí hay paraíso
I just started watching "Sin senos sí hay paraíso", and I am already hooked. It's a fairly new Telenovela by Telemundo, made in 2016. It has the traditional "Rosa" story line, in which the main protagonist is poor, naive, and quickly falls in love with a boy. But it is so much more complex than that, the first episode started right off the bat with an intricate background story including a murder, drug lords, and a complicated family tree. This all leads up to the main story line and fast forwards to the protagonist growing up and facing challenges due to this history. It has a classic antagonist that is trying to steal the love of young Catalina, and so far her and her family seem to be completely ruining Catalina and her family's life. They are currently all in jail after being set up for theft, and the system seems so corrupt I really wonder how they are ever going to get out of this because the antagonist family runs this town with all their drug lord money and connections. The roots of hatred between these two family's hatred runs so deep and would take me a very long time to fully explain. The first three episodes are jam packed with information, and goes through 18 years of life, which is quite overwhelming but makes me want to keep watching. I am definitely having to pause and go back to make sure I understood what happened in the scene. The love story in this is absolutely adorable, and they hide their relationship for over three years, there are definitely many obstacles they're going to have to overcome.
Mine started off the same way as well!! Do you think the producers of these telenovelas like to stick with the traditional "Rosa" story because that is what the audience likes to see and are accustomed to it? I also think that the idea of "despecho" plays a bring role in some traditional telenovela like the "rosa" or "cinderella" type of stories. Because it is easier to include the aspect of despecho in a traditional telenovela where the female and male protagonist are in love but go through many obstacles. I feel that most telenovelas introduces the basic information that the audience needs to know in the first couple of episodes but then afterwards it becomes full of interesting and addicting drama.
